How to repair Cartier's Fine Jewellery?

This beautiful, Panthère Cartier design has got a long and fascinating history. The Panthère designs from Cartier have been introduced by the famous Jewellery French Designer Jeanne Toussaint, who has been convinced by Louis Cartier to join the most famous Fine jewellery House in the 1920s during the Art Deco period and she became Cartier’s Artistic director. Jeanne Toussaint‘s nickname was la petite Panthère; this is how Louis de Cartier used to call her. The famous avant-garde was a close friend of Coco Chanel, Jean Cocteau, and she has evolved the most amazing designs in her time, from designing bags, jewellery for the wealthy and the aristocrats.
The first La Panthère designs from Cartier with gold, enamel with some amazing cabochon emerald was commissioned for the Duchess of Windsor in 1948 by Edward the VIII. With the success of this piece, La Panthère has been re-created in so many different items from rings, pendants, drop earrings.

We had to repair and restore four different items; the first one was a Panthère Cartier from the 80’s – a pendant which had a broken link and missing diamond. The second item was a Must de Cartier Tank which had broken glass and the Cartier watch case needed to be restored and re-plated. The third one was a Cartier Vermeil 2735 with three types of gold that needed a full watch case restoration, Panthère de Cartier 18k Gold with a total set diamond which had a gold link missing with pave set.

The Cartier Panthère repair in Hatton Garden workshop
This particularly Panthère Pendant 18k yellow gold has some diamonds missing and a beautiful gemstone from the Panthère mouth. The pendant had a lot of scratches, marks which we believed had not been polished for years.
The Cartier Panthère needs to get filed down with precise needle files for the jeweller, then buffed with emery papers. After finishing those steps, we assessed the diamonds, which were Pave set.

After our diamond grading, we concluded that the diamond missing was 1.15 carats, G colour VVSI and the small ruby missing was a vivid red AAA. We reset the diamond missing and the ruby.
Our last task was then to provide the Panthère Cartier diamond a high and fine polishing to give spark and brilliance to lovely pieces with our professional polishing unit.
When she came to collect her piece, we could see her happiness as we gave a new life to her Cartier jewellery with our Cartier jewellery repair.
